BCF’s Story

Our Founder and Executive Director, Gen, has always loved growing food and sharing it with the community. Often donating the over abundance of cherry tomatoes from her personal garden.

Gen created her own farm in 2018 to test the concept of small scale farming. As the farm team grew with each new season, they were able to harvest enough fresh produce to no only support a CSA delivery bag service, but to donate to local food banks and community groups.

The dream was finally realized with the creation of Barron Creek Farm! A farm with a mission of improving accessibility to healthy food in our community.

WHO DO WE FEED?

Working with local food banks and community organizations, our produce feeds individuals and families in San Mateo, Santa Cruz, and Santa Clara Counties.

Organizations we work with include South Palo Alto Food Closet, Fresh Approach, Sunnyvale Community Services, West Valley Community Services and more.

  • BCF grows a variety of crops, depending on the season. See what produce we’re currently growing on our Instagram, @barroncreekfarm!

  • Barron Creek Farm follows the principles of regenerative agriculture, focusing on building and maintaining soil health. We rotate our crops, interplanting when possible, and use cover crops when not actively growing produce. We use fertilizer from compost made on-site and, we never use pesticides.

We farm with the health of the environment and our community in mind, always.

  • Barron Creek is a small stream that originates in Los Altos Hills and flows through Palo Alto before joining Adobe Creek, ultimately emptying into the San Francisco Bay. Our Farm is located close to the creek's source giving Barron Creek Farm the dedication of serving the communities that surround it.
